District Food Services
The Pella Community School District participates in the Child Nutrition Program. Nutritious breakfasts and lunches are served in every building in the district every day. Our meals meet or exceed the requirements set by the United States Department of Agriculture for nutritional standards.
On July 27th, 2015 the Pella Board of Education set limits on negative breakfast/lunch account balances. If your child has a negative balance of -$45.00 or greater we ask that you send a lunch with your child until the balance has been paid.
Your student’s lunch balance can be found on Infinite Campus or please call the food service office between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 2:30 a.m at (641) 628-1748.
Lunch Fees
Breakfast: $1.55
Lunch: $2.90
Adult Breakfast: $1.85
Adult Lunch $4.85
The requirements set in 2010 by the Hunger Free Act require the following:
- 1/2 cup of fruit or vegetable
- a selection of 5 vegetable sub-groups
- age-appropriate calorie guidelines
- low-fat and fat-free milk
- whole-grain-rich foods
- decrease in sodium limits
- zero transfat
These meet the USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans set by the Institute of Medicine.
Students learn to make healthy choices and we pride ourselves in offering a wide variety of both fruits and vegetables. We also believe we are part of the education of a student and try to offer food choices that may not be a common part of their diet.
Thank you for letting us serve your children. We enjoy being part of their day.
