News Fifth Grade Students Honor the American Flag Through Essay Contest

Our 5th grade students recently had the opportunity to participate in a Flag Essay Contest sponsored by the Pella American Legion. Lily Heesch was the overall winner of the contest.  Through this class assignment, students got to deepen their understanding of the American flag—its history, meaning, and proper etiquette. The experience helped students grow in their appreciation for how the flag is respected in our community and for the veterans who have served and sacrificed for our country. We are grateful to the Pella American Legion and to Marion County Bank for sponsoring this meaningful contest and for partnering with our school to help students learn the importance of honoring our flag and those who defend it.
