News Pella HS FFA

Published on May 22, 2017

The Pella FFA Chapter volunteered at the Pella FFA Alumni and Friends booth during Tulip Time the first week of May. The alumni booth sold smoked pork burgers, pork chops, and skinless brats at the stand that were purchased from Ulrichs Meat Market. The Pella FFA Chapter was in charge of the sales to raise funds for the alumni chapter. Students were able to gain skills in biosecurity, food safety, sales, money management, food preparation, and business. Chapter members had a lot of fun participating in this years event, and had involvement from 100% of the chapter members.

In addition to working at the Pella FFA Alumni & Friends tulip time stand, chapter members dedicated their time to participating with the FFA float by renovating it for this year’s Tulip Time parades. The float was in all six of the parades with members riding on it each time. Each year the Pella FFA chapter sweetheart has the opportunity to ride the FFA float during Tulip Time.  Amanda Stanley is the chapter’s 2017 Sweetheart and rode in all six parades.  The senior FFA members had the opportunity to drive the FFA float. Vehicles used to pull this year’s float and chapter sweetheart were two tractors restored for FFA projects. This included a John Deere 3020, and an Allis Chalmers.  In addition, some members chose to drive a brand new Ford pickup truck from Pella Motors.
