News Middle School Student Council Supports Local Adopt a Family Program

Published on December 15, 2023

The Pella Middle School Student Council collaborated with Crossroads of Pella to provide support for their Adopt a Family Program. Under the guidance of Middle School teacher Kristin Schulz, the 21-member Student Council adopted a single mother and her 7-year-old son.

To raise funds for their donation, the students organized two Middle School tailgate events. The contributions collected included a remote control car, blankets, clothing, snacks, and various Marvel items. The students wrapped and personally delivered the gifts to Crossroads last week, ensuring that the adopted family could experience a truly special Christmas.

Reflecting on the experience, Student Council member Aaron VandeLune expressed, “The favorite part of my day was spreading joy and bringing cheer to a family in need.” In addition to the gifts, students also contributed coats and winter wear to assist Crossroads in supporting those facing cold weather challenges this winter.
