News Smart Start Café: Brewing Skills and Making a Difference

Fridays mean Smart Start Café at Pella Middle School! Students in Mrs. Buck’s class manage and operate this business, preparing and delivering coffee and treats to staff members.

Through this experience, students build important social, life, and academic skills. They learn to cook, measure ingredients, communicate with others, take orders, work as a team, clean, handle money, and much more!

The students also have a bigger goal for the money they earn. They plan to donate their profits to an organization, helping them work toward one of their social studies “Go Make a Difference” goals.
