News Pella High Graduate Celebrates Haitian Heritage Through Apprenticeship Capstone
Published on September 9, 2026Tuesday evening, guests gathered to celebrate 2026 Pella High School graduate Izzy Roose at her “Taste of Haiti” apprenticeship capstone event. Through WorkSMART Connector, Izzy gained valuable experience working with local employers in the hospitality industry.
She showcased the skills she developed by leading a Haitian cooking class featuring Haitian spaghetti, plantains with vegetable slaw, and bonbon siwo, a cake-like Haitian bread.
The event marked the completion of Izzy’s registered apprenticeship certification, made possible through partnerships with Central College, Country Inn & Suites, Liberty Street Kitchen, Pella Community Schools, Ulrich Meat Market, and WesleyLife.
