Today’s Celebration:

-Happy belated birthday to Mrs. Kelsey Boot who celebrated a birthday yesterday!

Activity Results:

-Congrats to the following winners of the 1st quarter FCS Cupcake Wars:  Most Creative & Best Presentation – “Oreo Owl” cupcake created by Kalin Valster & Ashley Hundt, Best Flavor – “Squashed Spider” cupcake created by Andrew Boat, Charles VanderVelden, & Jimmy Vilavanh.

-The Running Lady Dutch Won the State meet on Saturday. Leading the way were: Whitley Poulter, Elsie Thoreson, Caroline McMartin, Hailey Kowzan, Smita Singhal, & Ellie Roorda. In the 8th grade girls race, MaKayla Kruse was 6th overall and Abbie Nunnikhoven, 39th; represented Pella well finishing with medals. The Boys ran well with the 7th grade finishing 7th and the 8th graders finishing 12th. Running for the 7th grade team was: Tyler Reynolds was 8th overall; Dakota Schippers, Thomas Gaul, Nick Singer, Cole Maifeld, and Mason Johnston.  The 8th grade boys finished 12th in team standings with Drew VanHauen, Evan Buckingham, Gavin Tierney, Jordan Buma, and Matthew Thompson. Cross Country Members will meet during 10th hour to hand in uniforms and gather results;the 7th grade girls state team will take a photo with the state plaque.

Today’s Lunch:  Italian meatball sub or breaded chicken sandwich  Tomorrow:  stuffed crest pepperoni pizza or corn dog

Character Counts:

-It’s National Character Counts week.  The Character Counts program teaches us to follow and model the six pillars of character:  trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.

Remember:

-8th grade volleyball will be dismissed at 3:00 to leave for Newton.  7th grade plays here at 4:30.

-Thanks to the 8th grade volleyball girls and their fans for the donations to the Pella Food Shelf.  Eighty items were donated and taken to support the food shelf.  Thanks!  7th grade volleyball girls and fans, CAN we beat them?  Yes, we CAN!

-Anyone interested in traveling this summer as a student ambassador for People to People, please see Mrs. VanWyk before or after school.  The informational meeting is this Saturday, October 25.
