Today’s Celebration:

-Show Choir had a great performance at the parent preview this last Saturday!

Remember:

-8th graders:  If you are planning to enter the creative writing/poetry contest, you need to take your paper to Mrs. DeHaan now!

-Would you like to go on a city quest through Rome, spend a few nights with a family in Spain, explore a Gothic palace in France or repel down a tower wall in Italy?  As a People to People Student Ambassador you can travel to Spain, Italy and France in the summer of 2015 and do all this and more for 19 days.  There will be an informational meeting on February 8 at Drake University.  For more information go to peopletopeople.com then talk to Mrs. Van Wyk.

-Today is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.  Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was an American pastor, activist, humanitarian, and leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement.  He is best known for his role in the advancement of civil rights using nonviolent civil disobedience based on this Christian beliefs.  A Baptist minister, King became a civil rights activist early in his career, and is most famous for his “I Have a Dream” speech given on August 28, 1963, at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC.  On October 14, 1964, King received the Nobel Peace Prize for combating racial inequality through nonviolence.
