Guidance

Reminder – If you have signed up for the ZAPS ACT workshop, it is tonight from 6:30-9pm in Mr. Cutler’s classroom, room 108. If you are interested in attending, please stop in the guidance office.

 

Interested in a Nursing career? Seniors, we have the Mary Evers Nursing scholarship application. Stop in the guidance office today – the deadline is this week!

 

The Youth Leadership Initiative (YLI), an experiential leadership development program of the Greater Des Moines Partnership.  This program is 100% tuition free. Outcomes of this program are public speaking skills, increased self-confidence, developed leadership skills, relationship building, and understanding how a community grows and operates outside of their own back yard. Applications for this program are due April 24th. Students can apply online or download the application forms at www.desmoinesmetro.com/education

 

The Vermeer field trip scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed until April 1st. If Mrs. Manning talked to you before break about this field trip, please plan on April 1st instead.

 

Speech

The Pella High School Speech Team had a successful State Individual Events Contest at Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School on March 14th. Two students, Davis VandeSteeg and Colin Jones, earned All State Performer recognition. Individual Events All State takes place on March 30th at the University of Northern Iowa.

 

13 students at State earned straight “I” ratings from the judges. Five more students earned overall “I” ratings and 12 students earned “II” ratings.

 

Auditions for the 2015 Improv Show will be held tomorrow after school at 3:30 and again in the evening at 6:30. Further auditions will be held on Wed at 7:30 AM and at 3:30 pm. See Mrs. Jones or Mrs. Whittington with questions.

 

Athletics

FCA will be at the Pellla Rec. Center Field House on the turf field tonight from 7-8. We will be talking about FCA camp at Central and Playing ultimate Frisbee.  If you have any questions see Garret Jansen or Seth Johnson.

 

Boys soccer will practice at 6:30 this evening at the Stadium.  Basketball players should attend their end of season banquet as a priority, and then come to practice afterward if there is time.  See Coach Solomon if you have any questions.

 

Cheerleading tryout sign up and forms are in Charma’s office.  Tryouts will be next Monday, March 30 from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.
