The National Honor Society is kicking off our annual charity drive! This year, you can donate any gently used blue jeans to our drive that will be given to young people experiencing homelessness. The class that donates the most jeans will receive a sweet prize! Contact Emily Dux with questions.

 

All Speech students need to check their email today for the Saturday State Large Group schedule.

 

Anyone interested in auditioning for Poetry Out Loud should come to room 116 Tuesday after school. Anyone with questions should see Mrs. Jones today.

 

Congratulations to both Jazz Band 1 and Jazz Band 2.  Jazz Band 2 placed 1st at the Simpson College Jazz Festival in the 3A 2nd Band Class on Friday. Both Jazz 1 and 2 received Division 1 ratings at the IHSMA State Jazz Band Contest on Saturday.

 

Athletics

Varsity girls and boys basketball teams defeated Pella Christian and ADM over the week-end

 

Wrestlers lost at their conference meet but Keagan Poole was LHC Champ, Ashton Messer placed 2nd. 4th place finishers were James Van Gorp and Ben Thomas. 5th place was Ethan Speltz, Seb Sekora, Cole Larson, 6th was Lane Rodamaker, Andrew Whitten and Zach Van Donselaar

 

Boys Swimming at Conference placed 3rd overall with Isaak Webb placing 1st in 200 Medley Relay, 100 Butterfly -a conference record, the 100 breaststroke-also conference record and  was name Individual All Conference Swimmer of the year and All Conference Academic Team.  Aaron King placed 1st in the 200 Medley Relay and 200 Free Relay,  2nd in the 100 butterfly and 50 Free and was name All Conference Academic Team. Lucas Warner placed 1st in the 200 medley Relay, 200 Free Relay, 100 backstroke and 2nd in the 100 Free.

 

Bowling team defeated Newton on Saturday with Alex Bragg having the team high best game at 226, and Jaden Ruth had the team high series with 388. The group’s first round score was the highest of the year at 1858. The girls lost due to small team but Kirsten Veenstra and Kaeleigh De Waard both had personal bests.

 

J.V.  Wrestlers should be dismissed at 3:00 today.
