I began teaching Special education at Newton High School in 1988 moving my career to Pella High School in 2002 where I have had a variety of teaching assignments including World Geography, US History, Psychology and Special Education. I am a Central College Graduate. I received my Master’s Degree from Viterbo University in 2002 in Secondary Education. I am fully certified in all Social Studies Endorsement areas as well as certified in Level I and Level II special education areas. I instruct a dual enrolled DMACC class for High School students for Psychology meeting their Behavioral Science course requirement for college. I previously was a National Conference Speaker for the Learning Disabilities Association for 5 years. I enjoy the creativity and constant adventure of teaching. Each school year is a new adventure in learning and experimenting with new teaching methods and ideas to improve student learning. Improving Student writing is a passion of mine no matter what class I teach.
